Since 2008, four editions of Robotor were organized in other towns (Botoșani and Brașov) than Orșova, to transfer the experience gained in organizing such competitions and to stimulate the development of robotics in those communities. After two consecutive editions organized in Brașov (in 2018 and 2019), the Robotor Trophy was to return in 2020 to Mehedinți, not to Orșova, but to Drobeta Turnu Severin.
The collaboration with Drobeta Turnu Severin City Hall started in 2019, when it financed the SevTec Trophy, in which two regional competitions were organized: Conexiuni 2019 (electronics contest) and Robotor 2019 (robotics contest). For the final phase of the Trophy Robotor 2020, Drobeta Turnu Severin City Hall allocated 25,000 RON. Unfortunately, the Robotor 2020 edition could not be organized because the Romanian Ministry of Education canceled all the competitions in the Calendar of Educational Activities 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the Trophy Robotor 2021, the competition rules have been adapted for online organization of the competition. Subsequently, also due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education canceled all the competitions in the Calendar of Educational Activities 2021.
For the organization of the Robots Trophy 2022, we intended to resume the collaboration with Drobeta Turnu Severin City Hall. The financial involvement of Drobeta Turnu Severin City Hall was not possible because the funding request for the Robotor Trophy 2022 could not be submitted in time.
